The CareFRESH® Brand Story

At CareFRESH, we’re in business to make pet ownership healthy, safe and fun. All our products — from our complete line of habitat products to our premium small pet food — are designed to make it easier and more enjoyable to own a small pet while helping pets live long and healthy lives.

Our company was founded in 1985 by Gordon L. Ellis, a professional engineer and geophysicist, who created a completely new, cost-effective way to develop pet bedding derived from recycled, renewable materials. This new bedding not only featured superior odor-control technology, but also absorbed up to three times its weight in liquid and lasted more than twice as long as wood shavings. Plus it was safe, natural and earth friendly.

Today, CareFRESH products include premium bedding (Basic™, Natural™, Ultra™, Colors™ and Confetti®), premium Litter (FreshSorb™) and environmental enrichment (ProEarth™ Crinkles™ and Hide ’n Seek™), all of which make up the CareFRESH Habitat System. We also offer CareFRESH Complete™, a nutritionally fortified, natural and balanced diet for small pets.
